OPINION

Football fans spend their entire lives wondering what might have been. Whether it’s a dodgy refereeing decision, or an unfortunate bounce of a ball, there will always be something that could have gone better, or that could have made the difference. For Liverpool fans, a prime example of this is the failed move to land Nabil Fekir. The Frenchman looked for all the world as if he was going to become an Anfield player last summer, until the deal to take him to Merseyside collapsed at the 11th hour. The general consensus since then has been that there was an underlying knee problem found in the player’s medical that put the Reds off of signing him, as reported by Joe.co.uk, but Fekir himself has spoken out against that suggestion. In an interview with L’Equipe, the 26-year-old has basically said that his knee is fine and always has been, and that he has no idea as to what derailed his move. Whatever the truth of the matter, it is a real shame that he didn’t become a Kop player. He went to Real Betis this summer, and already looks like a force of nature, averaging 3.7 shots, two key passes, and 4.3 successful dribbles per game, as per Whoscored. What a signing he would have been.
