OPINION
It appears that plenty of Liverpool supporters have taken the opportunity of the club announcing young striker Paul Glatzel’s contract extension on their official Twitter account on Wednesday to berate former player Bobby Duncan. The two youngsters are inextricably linked on Merseyside from their time spent terrorising Under-23 defenders together for the Reds reserves last season, and so when something like this happens to one of them, the other will inevitably be drawn into the conversation. Duncan, of course, is the cousin of Steven Gerrard who engineered a transfer to Italian side Fiorentina this summer after a bitter war of words between his agent and the European champions. The actions of Duncan’s representative were disgraceful, but ultimately they succeeded in breaking up the Glatzel-Duncan partnership that many Liverpool fans viewed as the future. It’s a shame to see a young man attacked in this way, but it’s typical of football fans and, to be honest, Duncan can have no complaints.
