If there’s one thing Liverpool fans love to do, it’s reminisce. Whether it’s about the glory days of Dalglish and Rush, or the 2005 Champions League miracle of Istanbul, the Kop is always up for a bit of misty eyed nostalgia. And for a long time, that’s all supporters had to go on. With trophies at a premium, the Anfield faithful were forced to look back rather than forward for their glory for quite some time. Or at least that was the case until last season. A sixth European title, and Jurgen Klopp’s first piece of silverware at the club, was cause for wild celebration on Merseyside, and understandably so. And while the 2-0 win over Tottenham in the final was something special, nothing will eclipse that 4-0 win over Barcelona at Anfield to get them to Madrid in the first place. And the standout moment of that win was, of course, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s quickly taken corner to Divock Origi – a goal that stunned Barca and instantly became an iconic moment. So it makes sense that when the Champions League asked for the best corner taker in the competition, the Reds’ Twitter admin simply replied with a gif of the young full-backs ingenious moment. And, understandably, supporters were absolutely loving it.
