Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had not played a lot of football in the last year and you wouldn’t have missed him if you’d tuned into Cheltenham instead, but has made six appearances now in all competitions this season and it would seem as though some Liverpool fans on Twitter are starting to get a bit frustrated by the former Arsenal midfielder. Oxlade-Chamberlain, 26, played just twice last season due to a ruptured cruciate ligament but has since fully recovered and is making his way back to playing at the level he was before his injury. He’s been in and out of Jurgen Klopp’s starting line-up this term but was named in the starting 11 against Newcastle United on Saturday when Liverpool come from behind to win 3-1 at Anfield. Oxlade-Chamberlain lasted 75 minutes before he was taken off but he failed to impress some fans in his appearance. Some people just like to have one negative to pick out and if there was a negative in that game it was the slow start and the poor defending that led to Newcastle’s goal. Oxlade-Chamberlain is still going to need time but it’s good to see him playing close to 90 minutes now.
