Liverpool are in the hunt for PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen, according to Calciomercato.

The Italian outlet claim on their website that the 20-year-old is an admirer of the Reds, with his current deal with the Eredivisie club not set to expire until 2024.

Malen has burst onto the scene at PSV in the past couple of seasons and recently made his debut for the senior Holland side, scoring the winner in their victory over Germany.

The former Arsenal forward has started the season in great form for PSV and scored five of his six league goals for the campaign in a single game against Vitesse. He’s got 10 in 13 across all competitions.

OPINION

Malen has quickly catapulted himself into stardom in the past year in Holland. Not only has the 20-year-old scored the winner over Germany in the European Championship qualifiers, but he has also become prolific in front of goal for PSV. Malen has been in electrifying form in all competitions, and the Reds could pull off a masterclass if they were able to complete a deal for the star this year. Malen has great positional sense in the final third and often gets into pockets of space which gives him more opportunities to score. The Dutch international averages four shots on goal per game according to WhoScored, proving he has numerous chances to find the back of the net in every outing. Malen certainly has all the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League, and with Calciomercato suggesting that he likes Liverpool, the Reds surely have every chance of finalising a deal in the future if they want him.
