OPINION
There is no surprise that Liverpool appear keen to tie down Mane to a new deal at Anfield. A wage rise would only represent his significant importance to Jurgen Klopp’s side and would be well deserved. The 27-year-old has been somewhat out of the spotlight in recent years behind Mohamed Salah, but after winning the Premier League Golden Boot award last season, alongside Salah, he stepped out of that shadow. Mane has continued that form this season, already scoring four goals. That is the same amount as Salah, despite playing 81 fewer minutes than the Egyptian. Mane has averaged 2.2 shots on goal and 2.4 key passes per game according to WhoScored and is a constant threat to opposing sides in front of goal. Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that a new deal with bigger wages will act as a motivation for Mane to continue his scintillating form for the Reds as they look to win their first-ever Premier League title this season.
