The Premier League title race was well and truly reignited last season after countless number of years where one side were barely challenged on their way to glory – much to the frustration of Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp was within a whisker of securing the Reds’ first-ever Premier League title but eventually missed out to Manchester City by a single point, despite only losing one game in the entire campaign.

Liverpool have made the perfect response at the start of this season, and have suffered no hangover from that disappointment last season, being the only side left in the top-flight with a 100% record so far.

Their second home game of the campaign was against Arsenal, their first test against one of the top-six in the Premier League, and one they passed with flying colours.

A brace from Mohamed Salah helped Klopp’s men towards a 3-1 victory over the Gunners, who haven’t exactly hit the ground running despite much excitement surrounding their new-look front three.

Despite looking poor against Liverpool, former Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger, believes that Arsenal can still challenge the Reds and Manchester City for the title this season.

“Maybe the team who has the potential is Arsenal who could be the closest,” he told beIN Sports, as quoted by Metro.

“Liverpool looks very strong at the back and up front, they have a midfield that knows its job. Maybe less creative than Man City but they look a little bit in front of all the others.”

Wenger surely can’t believe that Arsenal are anywhere near challenging Liverpool for the title and the early showdown between the two sides isn’t the only reason why.

The Reds have averaged three goals per game so far this season, as well as 17.5 shots on goal from 55.8% average possession per game according to WhoScored – showing how easily they can dominate sides.

Arsenal are already averaging half the amount of goals per game in the league with 1.5 per game so far, even though they have kept more possession with an average of 56.1% according to WhoScored.

That only proves that Arsenal don’t have the required skills to match Liverpool over the full Premier League season, and has time goes on the Reds will only start to pull away, making Wenger rethink his laughable prediction.
