Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum is set to start against Chelsea on Sunday, according to Football Insider.

The reputable football outlet claim that Klopp will make at least one change from the side that lost against Napoli on Tuesday, with the £75,000-a-week ace [Spotrac] expected to return to the starting lineup.

Football Insider report that the Dutch international was involved in intricate team pattern plays in training on Saturday, a suggestion that he is set to feature from the beginning of the match in midfield.

This report means that one of Jordan Henderson, James Milner, or Fabinho will drop out for the Reds at Stamford Bridge.

OPINION

It is no surprise that Klopp will be looking to make changes to the side that lost against Napoli in the Champions League. Liverpool fatigued towards the end of that game in Italy and the Serie A side took advantage of that, and the Dutch midfielder will bring a dynamic presence in the heart of the Reds’ side. The 28-year-old has featured in every single Premier League game so far this season, and Klopp will have used the European tie as a chance to rest him, with Wijnaldum surely ready to come back in and make a statement at Stamford Bridge. Wijnaldum has been phenomenal on the ball for the Reds, averaging 52.4 passes per game according to WhoScored at an impressive 92% success rate. The more that Liverpool’s midfielders can get on the ball the better and Klopp will be looking for more attacking impetus compared to the defensive-minded Fabinho, Henderson, and Milner – something that could cause Chelsea serious problems and an extra headache in the game.
