Everton-mad former world cruiserweight champion Tony Bellew has revealed that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp makes him smile.
The Evertonian is obviously naturally opposed to the Reds, but he’s grudgingly admitted that the Anfield boss is someone he really admires.
“You’ve gotta be happy mate, you can’t hate against someone like Liverpool because you look at what they’re doing,” he told talkSPORT.
“I’d love to hate the manager, but you can’t even hate him as well because every time you look at him, he makes you smile. It’s insane what they’re doing, sending me insane.”
Life must be pretty difficult for every Everton supporter these days. Not only are their fiercest rivals European champions and sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League, but their own team are stuck in quicksand under a manager in Marco Silva who doesn’t seem to know how to get the best out of the plentiful talent they have at the club. Bellew obviously wants to be against the Reds and to hate Klopp, but he simply can’t. That’s the magic of the former Borussia Dortmund boss. He is one of the most charismatic characters in the game and he has revitalised Liverpool and turned them into a European powerhouse. It’s no surprise, then, that the Reds are sending Everton fans insane. It’s not good to be on the blue half of Merseyside right now, that’s for sure. As for Klopp, it tells you everything you need to know that he even has the admiration of die-hard Toffees supporters.
