Jamie Carragher has hailed Liverpool winger Sadio Mane, claiming that he loves the Senegalese international.

The 27-year-old has been in fine form for the Reds so far this term, hitting five goals in the Premier League already.

And Carragher has wasted little time in singing his praises.

Speaking to the club’s official website, he said: “I absolutely love him, he’s my favourite player at the club. He’s brilliant, he’s always got a smile on his face, always there, always gets knocked about, gets goals, setting others up.

“He’s the one who came in at the very start under Klopp, his first real big signing, and I think ever since then he’s just been getting better and better. He’s just a machine.”

OPINION

This is about as ringing an endorsement as you could possibly ask for from Carragher. The ex-Kop man has really opened the floodgates with his praise here, and to be honest, you can’t blame him. Mane has been sensational at time for Liverpool recently, and already this season, he has started the campaign at a frightening pace. 2.3 shots on goal, 1.9 key passes, and 1.9 successful dribbles per game, as per Whoscored, with 4.5 successful dribbles per game in the Champions League alone, are the marks of a player in full flight. Factor in a Whoscored rating of 7.65, and it is clear that he is one of the finest attacking talents in world football at the moment. If he can continue in this kind of form, he will be right up there when it comes to the end of season player of the year accolades.
