Steven Gerrard has delivered his prediction for Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United on Sunday, claiming categorically that Jurgen Klopp’s men will win.
The Reds travel to Old Trafford with a 100% record in the Premier League so far this season, and ex-skipper Gerrard is in a bullish mood about them maintaining that record.
Speaking during his Rangers press conference on Friday, as quoted by the Mirror, he said: “Yes. Liverpool will win.
“They’ve played eight and won eight. The front three are in fantastic form, they’re not conceding many goals, they’re European champions. Do you want any other reasons why I think Liverpool are going to beat Man United?
“Did you think I was going to say anything different?!”
Why don’t you tell us how you really feel, Stevie? Gerrard is in no mood to mess about here, and he’s nailed his colours to the mast early doors with a definitive verdict on a game that could kick Liverpool’s season up another level again. Eight games on the bounce is an impressive stat, of course, but United will always represent a potential banana skin, regardless of form, and so a win over their bitter rivals would be a huge statement of intent from the Reds. Obviously, they will be favourites, and obviously, they have more than enough in their locker to give United a drubbing here, but with late fitness tests on Mo Salah and Joel Matip to come, as per Sky Sports, there’s no saying that this will be an easy task on the day.
