Sky Sports pundit Dietmar Hamann has claimed that Liverpool might show big interest in signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season after hearing of his former club’s hunt to sign the England international.

Sancho, 19, has started the season in terrific form, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists in 11 appearances across all competitions for Dortmund while also playing a key role in Gareth Southgate’s England side.

Ex-Reds star Hamann has kept his ear close to the ground in regards to Sancho’s future and it would see as though he has heard the Merseyside club will eye a deal for the ex-Manchester City attacker next year.

“What I hear is that Liverpool has great interest. I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties,” he told Sky in Germany, as translated by Liverpool’s official website.

“He’s from Manchester City and I do not know if he would come back again, and it’s a thing for Manchester United, too, if they’ve ever been to the rivals.”

OPINION

Liverpool fans might look at Sancho and wonder where he fits in their starting line-up. The 19-year-old has only played on the right-wing for Dortmund this season, which is the position where Mohamed Salah plays. Salah is one of Liverpool’s best players and there is no point in Jurgen Klopp going out to sign a replacement for the Egyptian because he is so good. However if there is one thing that was glaringly obvious on Sunday, it was that the Reds missed Salah massively as they drew 1-1 against Manchester United. Divock Origi came in to replace Salah while Sadio Mane moved onto the right as Origi played on the left. That whole shift just caused the front-three to look disjointed for the whole match. Origi’s lack of quality was telling while the change of position did not help at all. Sancho has no lack of quality whatsoever and imagine the damage he could have caused if he replaced the injured Salah on the right-wing.
