Emile Heskey has hailed Liverpool veteran James Milner, claiming that he is a “huge” player  and that “nothing fazes him”.

The ex-Kop hitman also picked out the midfielder’s penalty taking prowess after Milner struck with an injury time winner from the spot in Liverpool’s last outing against Leicester City.

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, he said: “He was our penalty taker at Villa. He’s so good at them because of practice.

“He knows what he wants, he knows what he wants to do. He’s so calm and confident with it. Nothing fazes him.

“He was huge. Not only a leader on the pitch, but off the pitch as well,”

OPINION

Full credit to Milner, he is a model professional, and his mentality and drive are second to none. It takes a special sort of person to step up and win a game from the penalty spot in injury time of a match, especially with the eyes of the world watching, but for a player like Milner, it all seems to be in a day’s work. That’s now 16 goals from penalty kicks in his Premier League career, as per the league themselves, and you have to admire the manner in which the 33-year-old equips himself handle the pressure of such high tension situations. What’s more, he has kept himself in peak physical condition throughout his career, and you wouldn’t bet against him rolling on for a few more years to come.
