Danny Mills’ combined Liverpool-Manchester United XI has already grabbed the headline and he isn’t done yet.

The pundit revealed his combined XI on Sky Sports News and his team had no room for any Man United players, with him practically selecting the same Jurgen Klopp would likely call upon when everyone is fit at Anfield.

This likely upset some Manchester United fans as it was a damning verdict on the quality of their team compared to one of their archrivals.

To make matters worse and to add further salt to Man United’s wound, Mills claimed on his personal Instagram that his first-choice back up for the midfield of his combined XI, was Liverpool’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner.

“I even said that Milner and Ox would be next in-line in the Midfield..,” wrote the pundit.

When you consider Oxlade-Chamberlain and Milner aren’t regular starters for Klopp’s side currently, the fact Mills ranks them above Man United’s first-choice options, players such as Scott McTominary and Paul Pogba, it just shows how superior he believes the Reds are.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has only played 197 minutes of Premier League action this season, as per WhoScored, and has failed to register an assist or score a goal thus far.

The 26-year-old is arguably still getting back up to speed and not at the peak of his powers after spending 293 days on the sidelines in the 2017/18 season due to a knee injury, and yet Mills ranks him above all of United’s midfield options (Source: Transfermarkt)

As for Milner, the midfielder has played 227 minutes of Premier League action across seven league outings and has impressed as he has scored one goal, registered two assists and has maintained a pass completion rating of 87.1%. (Source: WhoScored)

Yet at the age of 33-years-old, and arguably not at his peak anymore, though he does manage to defy his age reguarly, for him to be ranked above Man United’s first-choice options is telling as the likes of Pogba, who is 26-years-old, should clearly be at their peak compared to the Reds veteran.

While Mills’ claim could be argued, Pogba has registered two assists and averaged a rating of 7.15 on WhoScored for his league outings this season, it won’t stop salt being added to Man United’s wounds.
