Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has taken to Instagram to send a message to current Reds star James Milner.

The veteran Kop midfielder took to his personal account to share a video of him playing golf in Dubai during the international break, with many of his teammates away with their respective nations.

Commenting on that post, Warnock said: “Hopefully you’ll have the hook back for November or I stand no chance”.

OPINION

By the sounds of it, Warnock and Milner will be teeing off against one another at some point next month, and judging by the video that the latter just posted, the ex-Anfield defender should be worried. Milner’s form is good, his action is smooth, and his drive is straight and true. In fairness though, none of that should come as a surprise. Milner is the human equivalent of a Swiss Army knife – adaptable and versatile, always capable of doing a job at anything he turns his hand to. And he’s shown exactly those qualities this season too. So far this term he has averaged 1.6 key passes per 90 minutes, as per Whoscored, as well as 1.6 tackles and a pass completion rate of 87.1% in the Premier League. He can turn his hand to anything, and Kopites everywhere will just be hoping that it’s a little while longer before he starts hitting the links full time.
