Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip are set to miss Liverpool’s clash against Genk on Wednesday night which means that the Reds boss is predicted to make three changes to his starting line-up for the Champions League group stage fixture.

Joe Gomez is likely to start at right-back while rarely-seen centre-back Dejan Lovren could earn just his third appearance of the season.

Klopp confirmed on Tuesday that neither Alexander-Arnold or Matip had travelled to Belgium for the group stage match against Genk, but he did share that Mohamed Salah is in contention to feature.

However it is predicted that Salah will remain on the bench so that he can be well-rested ahead of this weekend’s Premier League showdown with Tottenham and the only other change that could be made is for James Milner to replace Jordan Henderson in the midfield.

Alisson Becker returned from his spell on the sidelines in the draw against Manchester United on Sunday so is expected to remain in goals behind a back-four of Gomez, Lovren, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson.

Fabinho, Georginio Wijnaldum and Milner could be Klopp’s three central midfielders against Genk.

In the attack, Klopp could stick with the same trio that drew at Old Trafford with Sadio Mane on the right, Divock Origi on the left and Roberto Firmino as the centre-forward.
