OPINION
It is a good job that Gareth Southgate and Jurgen Klopp see the value in Jordan Henderson because if England or Liverpool fans got to make decisions on the team selection, it would be an absolute mess. Henderson is a class operator of the ball in the midfield. He doesn’t have to be spraying long-range balls across the pitch and kick-starting attacking moves, that isn’t what he does. Henderson keeps the ball. He moves it on to the forward players, he moves it back when he has to and he is a leader. England needed leaders on Monday night in their 6-0 win against Bulgaria. It was a horrible match to watch with racist chanting coming from the home fans in Sofia and the real threat of the game being abandoned. Henderson’s presence on that pitch was needed on a night like Monday night and every England player is bound to be happy he was there.

Henderson could be 2 yards from an empty Bulgarian goal and he’d still pass it backwards. #BULENG
