OPINION
What a time it is to be a Liverpool fan right now. Not only are their team ripping it up in the Premier League, but their best players are consistently lighting up the world stage too. In Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, and Roberto Firmino, the Reds have one of the best and brightest attacking trios in world football, and the latter two proved just how good they were again when their respective nations, Senegal and Brazil, met in an international friendly on Thursday. That game finished 1-1, with Brazil drawing first blood thanks to a wonderful dinked effort from Firmino. It was Mane who won the penalty for Senegal to equalise, however, as, for what seemed like the thousandth time this season already, he got his head down and drove at the defence to cause havoc. Many fans were understandably delighted, but at this stage, should they really be surprised by Mane’s class? So far this season in the Premier League, the South American has averaged 2.3 shots on goals per game, as well as 1.9 key passes and 1.9 successful dribbles, as per Whoscored. Perhaps more impressive, however, is his match rating of 7.53, the highest out of any of Jurgen Klopp’s squad except for Firmino and Joel Matip. Simply put, Sadio is a class act.
