OPINION
Liverpool fans have reacted in a mixed way to Gareth Southgate’s decision to start Kieran Trippier over Trent Alexander-Arnold for England in their 6-0 win against Bulgaria in Sofia on Monday night. Alexander-Arnold is without doubt England’s best right-back but Atletico Madrid’s Trippier started both of England’s matches in this international break against the Bulgarians and last week’s opponents the Czech Republic. Although it’s nice to see your club’s players representing your country, Alexander-Arnold’s omissions is a blessing for Liverpool. The right-back has played a lot of football this season and will no doubt be feeling a lot more refreshed after not starting a match in this international break. Liverpool face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and even though United are in awful form, Jurgen Klopp will need his players to be at their flying best if he wants to see them preserve their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season.

TAA not playing, I would have stormed out. Being benched by Trippier.
