Joel Matip has been one of the standout performers in Liverpool’s side in the past year or so, playing a pivotal role in both the Premier League and the Champions League. The 28-year-old has solved the problem of who can partner Virgil van Dijk and has slotted into that role perfectly. The defender has averaged 5.2 clearances per game according to WhoScored this season and started each of the first six league games in this campaign, something that Jurgen Klopp will bear in mind when picking his side on Sunday. It would be no surprise to see the African come straight back into the fold, and he would surely make a massive impact on his teammates. Matip confirmed to the club’s official website on Thursday that he is fully fit for the game against Manchester United after picking up a knock against Sheffield United in the 1-0 victory at Brammall Lane.
