Friday was a massive day off the pitch at Anfield, with Liverpool’s court battle with New Balance set to come to an end. The sports manufacturer were battling to remain as the Reds kit supplier beyond this season after it was reported by Forbes that the club were set to sign a new deal with Nike that could be the most valuable kit deal in the history of the Premier League. The news broke on Friday morning that Liverpool had won their battle with New Balance [BBC] and that they were free to sign a fresh deal with Nike, who have already spent nearly £5million on producing a kit [The Athletic]. It wasn’t the kits that Liverpool fans were fussed about in their immediate reactions though, but in fact who the club could sign through the deal. Many Liverpool fans instantly started urging their club to sign Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe, who is, of course, a Nike athlete, and someone who could really take them to the next level if that is possible at this moment in time.
