OPINION
Given how well their team have started this season, it is perhaps a surprise to see Liverpool fans clamouring for new signings. After all, they have eight wins from eight in the Premier League, with a gap of eight points over second-placed Manchester City, and they have hit 20 goals in the process of opening up that lead. That being said, you don’t get to the top by waiting around, and you certainly stay there by resting on your laurels. As such, it is fairly understandable to see Kopites salivating over talent who could bolster their ranks. On Wednesday evening, the man they had in their sights was German starlet Kai Havertz. The 20-year-old hit his first senior goal for his nation in a 2-2 draw with Argentina, and it sent the Kop into meltdown. It’s easy to see why too. Havertz is a special talent, and this goal will almost certainly be the first of many. So far this season, he has averaged a Whoscored rating of 7.09, and has made two key passes and 1.9 successful dribbles per game. As a point of comparison, Jordan Henderson, who occupies a similar position to the youngster, has a rating of 6.61 in the Premier League, and has managed just 0.3 successful dribbles and 0.3 key passes, as per Whoscored. Not only does Havertz have potential, he has the potential to hit the ground running. The Reds have already been linked with him, as per TEAMtalk, and on the basis of this, he would be an inspired signing.

Kai Havertz is a really intelligent player. Always available for a pass, makes those forward runs in spaces when possible and also has an eye for goal. Top talent. #GERARG #Bayer04
