Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana for his performance in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

The 31-year-old came on in the second half at Old Trafford and scored the all-important equaliser when tucking away a curling cross from Andrew Robertson.

The Sky Sports pundit gushed about Lallana for his impact and admitted he thought he was excellent towards the end of the game as the Reds pushed for all three points.

“I thought he was excellent,” Robinson told Football Insider.

“He’s a quality player, we all know he’s a quality player, it’s always hard to come on during a game, but to come on and have an impact, it’s something a bit special.”

Lallana has made four appearances for Liverpool this season in the Premier League, with all of those being cameos off the bench, with his only start coming in the Carabao Cup against the MK Dons.

OPINION

There is no questioning Lallana’s natural ability on the ball when playing in attacking midfield, but even with that, there is still little hope of him cementing a spot in the starting 11 at Anfield in the future. The 31-year-old may have to settle for a role off of the bench going forward and hope that he can continue to make a similar impact to the one he made at Old Trafford – something that will surely delight Jurgen Klopp. There has always been a question mark surrounding whether or not Liverpool have the strength in depth needed to compete with the likes of Manchester City, and Lallana’s impact against the Red Devils certainly proved just that and if the 31-year-old continues to do that this season he could be the difference between Liverpool winning their first-ever Premier League title and missing out by a single point once again like they did last season.
