Liverpool forward Rhian Brewster has been hit with an illness, according to Goal journalist Neil Jones.

The reporter claimed via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that the 19-year-old has missed Liverpool’s UEFA Youth League match against Napoli due to an illness.

No more details are given on Brewster’s setback but as with most illnesses, it could mean that he will miss several days of training just to ensure that it does not spread among the rest of the squad.

OPINION

Brewster missed training at Melwood earlier this week, even though he has been a regular in Jurgen Klopp’s sessions. It now seems as though he missed out due to this illness and that is a shame because Brewster could have played a role in the first team’s clash against Napoli if he wasn’t going to be in the Youth League match. He will likely be out for a week or so now if he hasn’t already been suffering with his illness for a while already but no risks can be taken over it potentially spreading to any of his team-mates, whether they be in the senior squad or Under-23s. Brewster is a great young player who needs to be getting more first-team action than he is currently getting. Maybe if Liverpool beat Napoli on Wednesday, we will see the teenager play a role in the final group stage match against Red Bull Salzburg next month.
