Philippe Coutinho has taken to Instagram to send a message to Liverpool midfielder Fabinho.

The Anfield enforcer put in an impressive display in Brazil’s 3-0 win over South Korea on Tuesday, and took to social media to post a photo of himself in that match.

Responding to that post, Coutinho, who left the Reds in January of 2018, wrote: “Craque”, which translates into English as: “Ace”.

OPINION

Fabinho is having a sublime season so far, and it is hardly surprising to see him pick up plaudits like this one from Coutinho. The Liverpool man has struggled to nail down a starting role for his country in recent times, but after an impressive display against South Korea on Tuesday, you would hope that that is about to change. Certainly, if nothing else, his club form should have earned him a place in the lineup. He has averaged 2.4 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per game in the Premier League, as per Whoscored, as well as a pass completion rate of 87%, so far this season, and there is a strong argument to be made that he is one of best defensive midfielders in world football right now. Certainly, there’s nobody that the Kop would rather have in front of the back four, and it’s about time that he started getting some outside recognition.
