Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey has warned the Reds about three Villa players who should have them ‘worried’.

The two teams go up against each other on Saturday, with Heskey uniquely poised to offer an insight into both sides. He doesn’t think it’s going to be an easy game for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

In fact, there are three stars they need to watch out for in his opinion: “It’s at Villa Park so you have to be worried,” he told the Daily Express. “[Jack] Grealish, [John] McGinn, players like that.

“Wesley is more of a foil for them to bring them in and he’ll get his goals if he gets the right passes into him and crosses into the box. They’ve got players you’ve got to be worried about.”

OPINION

Heskey is absolutely right that Villa have players that Liverpool need to be worried about. McGinn has been absolutely superb ever since he joined the Villans and has made the step up to Premier League level with consummate ease. Grealish, on the other hand, took a little while to get going this season, but has stepped up his game immensely in recent weeks. Wesley has done pretty well since his summer move. He’s not been outstanding, but he’s been a solid physical presence who can finish chances when they’re created for him. The easiest, although not foolproof, way to compare these three this campaign is by their attacking achievements. As per WhoScored.com, it’s Wesley who has the most goals, with Grealish bagging the most assists. McGinn, meanwhile, is mustering the most shots and dribbles per game, while he has the highest average WhoScored rating of 7.47. So they are all dangerous in their own ways, and Liverpool will certainly have to watch out for them at Villa Park.
