Former Oasis star Liam Gallagher has hit out at England boss Gareth Southgate for the way he has managed the bust-up between Raheem Sterling and Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.

England confirmed on Monday night that Sterling will not be available to play against Montenegro on Thursday after there was a”disturbance in a private team area at St. George’s Park”.

The Mirror has reported that Gomez has been left with a scratch on his face following the incident involving the Manchester City forward, 24 hours after the two clashed in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday.

Celebrity Man City fan Gallagher has since taken to his personal Twitter account to react to the news but has vented his anger at England boss Southgate for the way things have been dealt with.

“Gareth Southgate, you should know better. Disappointed,” said the Beady Eye front-man.

OPINION

Some might say that Southgate is in the wrong about how he has dealt with this situation but by now, it is unlikely that anyone actually involved in the incident will be looking back in anger. Sterling and Gomez are bound to have let any ill-feeling slide away and little by little, the Man City star is bound to work his way back into Southgate’s plans by getting his head down and working hard. Liam Gallagher needs to stop crying his heart out about this because what was Southgate meant to do? Southgate’s strong stance has taught a lesson to not only Sterling but also the rest of the players in the England squad that this behaviour will not be tolerated while he is in charge. People have been talking about this all around the world but no matter what people are saying half a world away, the England boss is unlikely to be swayed on whether or not he did the right thing by dropping Sterling for the Montenegro match.
