COMMENTARY
Goal journalist Neil Jones uploaded a clip, via his Twitter account, of Liverpool centre-back Virgil Van Dijk watching Jamie Webster singing the song dedicated to the defender ahead of the Champions League final, in order to ask what he thought of the tune, and he revealed he loved it. Van Dijk seemed generally humbled by the clip of Liverpool fans signing his name and this didn’t go unnoticed by the Reds supporters who watched to find out his reaction. One fan pointed out that Van Dijk seemed to get emotional which means he loves the fans, while another claimed they dropped real tears of joy as they were so moved by the defender’s reaction. What is clear about this video is that Van Dijk appreciates the admiration he gets from Liverpool fans and it’s hard to imagine him ever wanting to leave Anfield. This is, of course, a dreamy thought as the centre-back has wowed every since arriving from Southampton. The 28-year-old has averaged an impressive match rating of 7.22 across his 12 Premier League outings this season on WhoScored, and he has made a ridiculously impressive 5.2 clearances per match in order to be a force at the back.
