Real Madrid are keen on swooping for Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson, according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central

It is understood that Zinedine Zidane is a fan of the 25-year-old, and views him as a potential long term replacement for Brazilian star Marcelo.

The repot does also state, however, that financial hurdles could threaten to derail any proposed raid, with Liverpool under no pressure to sell and Robertson not actively seeking a move away from Anfield.

OPINION

This one feels a little but pie in the sky, truth be told. Robertson is one of the finest left-backs in the world right now, and so it kind of makes sense that this sort of rumour is going to pop up every now and again, but for the most part whispers like this can be filed under the category of “complete and utter nonsense”. That’s what Liverpool fans will be hoping is true at least. Robertson has been superb again so far this season, and along with Trent Alexander-Arnold on the other flank, has established himself as one half of the most exciting full-back duo in the country. With the likes of Jose Mourinho calling him “absolutely incredible”, as per the Daily Record, it  is clear that he is attracting attention from across the footballing world, but right now, there is no better place for him than at Anfield.
