Michael Owen has backed Liverpool to beat Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The Reds lost their opening game of the competition against the Italian side, but former the Kop hero has backed them to make amends at Anfield this time around.

Speaking to Bet Victor, he said: “Napoli are without a win in their last six in all competitions and currently sit seventh in Serie A.

“Holders Liverpool will be through to the last 16 of the competition with a win and they will be looking for revenge having lost the reverse fixture in Italy, for the second successive season, on Matchday One.

“The Reds rode their luck at Selhurst Park on Saturday but they were excellent against City in their last home game, and I believe they will take all three points from what promises to be another wonderful Anfield occasion.”

OPINION

A win for Liverpool on Wednesday would be fantastic news. After a stuttering start to the campaign in Naples, where they lost 2-0 to a rampant home side, the Reds have bounced back brilliantly, and that remains their only loss in all competitions so far this season. As for Napoli, they are struggling, and currently lie seventh in Serie A with no wins in their last six games. The last thing any side needs in that kind of form is a trip to Anfield, and it would be a shock if Liverpool didn’t take all three points here. They know that they are just one win away from qualification for the knockout rounds, and with that prize on offer, you would expect them to get their head down and take all three points against a team who will travel to England in the worst possible nick. Owen’s prediction should come true.
