Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sent Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford a message on Instagram after sharing a picture of them training together for England.

The Toffees shot-stopper seemed to be attempting to tackle the Oxlade-Chamberlain and the Reds midfielder sent him a cheeky four-word message to ask if he was lost.

@jpickford1 are you lost mate?” wrote Oxlade-Chamberlain on his verified Instagram account.

The 26-year-old Reds midfielder was obviously making a joke about the training picture as it seemed like Pickford was trying to play as an outfield player rather than stay in his goal.

OPINION

Given the well-publicised bust-up between Reds defender Joe Gomez and Manchester City attacker Raheem Sterling while away with England, the timing of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s Instagram message is very interesting. Sterling was thought to have clashed with Gomez due to emotions running over from Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Manchester City, as reported by The Sun, as the rivalry between the player’s two clubs is currently strong due to both wanting the Premier League title this season. However, when you talk about fierce rivals, you cannot forget about Liverpool and Everton. So with that in mind, isn’t it interesting that Oxlade-Chamberlain is publicly interacting with an Everton player? It’s as if the 26-year-old is trying to make clear the England squad are getting along despite club rivalries. While that does sound paranoid, with PR being a part of football these days, it wouldn’t be a surprise. However, if you take the message at face value, then it is nice to see Oxlade-Chamberlain and Pickford getting along ahead of England’s next clash.
