Liverpool could be without Mohamed Salah for the next three to four weeks while he recovers from an ankle injury, according to Read Liverpool.

The news outlet claims that Salah, 27, is likely to miss the Reds’ next four matches which include clashes against Crystal Palace, Napoli, Brighton and Everton.

The Egpyt international has failed to complete 90 minutes in each of his last three Premier League appearances since a challenge by Leicester’s Hamza Choudhury left him with an ankle injury.

This is a huge blow for Liverpool. Salah is one of the best players in the league and to be without him is bound to have an impact on the way Jurgen Klopp’s side play or the results that they get over the coming weeks. Salah has not been at his absolute best this season but he has still scored nine goals and supplied five assists in 17 appearances across all competitions. The former Roma attacker has clearly been struggling since that challenge by Choudhury left him with an ankle injury and it is no surprise that the only league game Liverpool have failed to win this season came in the game when Salah did not feature. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are going to have to step up their game in Salah’s absence and it is likely that Divock Origi could stand in to replace him. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could also be a good shout with him in decent goalscoring form.
