David Seaman has predicted that Manchester City will win against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s side are six points behind the Reds going into their trip to Merseyside and will make their way to Anfield this weekend without number one goalkeeper Ederson, who picked up an injury in the draw with Atalanta on Wednesday night.

Claudio Bravo is likely to start in place of the Brazilian shot-stopper and Arsenal legend Seaman reckons that there will be a lot of pressure on City’s second-choice goalkeeper.

“I think it’s massive, if [Ederson is] out,” the former England goalkeeper said on Sky Sports’ Soccer AM on Saturday morning, as quoted by the Express.

“We’ve all seen – not just this season, the previous season – he’s brilliant.

“He can make saves from having nothing to do all game. That’s what shows me that he’s a quality goalie.

“He’s got that left-foot, and he used to be a midfield player. If he doesn’t play, he’s a massive miss.

“Then we look at [Bravo] that went in during the week and made that mistake as well, so it’s going to be big pressure on him.”

Seaman was then asked to predict who will win the match and he replied: “City.”

OPINION

Seaman is right about the goalkeeper situation at Manchester City because to be without Ederson is a massive loss for the defending Premier League champions. Ederson is up there with Alisson as the best goalkeepers in English football and any side in the world would miss a player of his quality – especially when Bravo is his replacement. Bravo got himself sent off for a moment of madness in Italy on Wednesday and left right-back Kyle Walker to see out the match in goals. Man City also have Scott Carson to call upon if needs be and based on Bravo’s shambolic cameo on Wednesday, the ex-Liverpool goalkeeper might not even be as bad a shout as the erratic Chilean. Guardiola is known for his squad rotation and mind games though so it would not be a shock to see Ederson’s name in the starting line-up by the time the team is confirmed on Sunday.
