Liverpool fans will be used to seeing fresh young talent break through the ranks into the first team, and following Monday’s news that Elijah Dixon-Bonner has signed a new deal with the club, they might have another one knocking on the door in the near future. The teenager is a regular for the Reds’ U23s, and has been a lifelong Liverpool fan. The youngster is a creative midfielder with England youth caps to his name, and it’s easy to see why there is some excitement surrounding his new deal. As for the Reds, this feels like a smart move. Jurgen Klopp is clearly looking to the future with his policy of getting youth tied down to new contracts, and it’s a really promising sign. Not only does it suggest that he plans on sticking around for a while longer, but it would also seem to show that the club will have a plethora of promising young stars to pad out the first team with when it eventually comes to the German leaving. In the short term though, Dixon-Bonner will just be delighted to have secured some more time with his boyhood club, and the hope will be he can repay that faith.
