Liverpool went into Sunday’s game with Manchester City knowing that a win would put them nine points ahead of their title rivals in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp went back to his trusted side, and the Reds blew away City at Anfield to secure the win and they did it in style. Georginio Wijnaldum was phenomenal in the heart of midfield and didn’t stop running all afternoon as he disrupted Pep Guardiola’s side while defending, and caused them massive problems by helping link play between the Reds’ front-three and the rest of the side. The 28-year-old goes under-the-radar at times due to how good the rest of his Liverpool teammates are, but Sunday was the Dutch international’s day. Wijnaldum has been great in possession for Klopp this season, averaging a pass success rate of 91.4% according to WhoScored – and that was evident as he controlled the game. Many Liverpool fans took to Twitter to shower praise on the midfielder, with one fan saying the box-to-box player was unplayable at Anfield.
