It feels like an eternity since Xherdan Shaqiri was last seen in a Liverpool shirt. The Swiss international has not featured for the Reds since the Champions League clash against Napoli in the middle of September, and prior to that he was barely getting a look in for Jurgen Klopp’s side. Shaqiri is yet to start a game for the Reds so far this term, and has been limited to just two Premier League appearances from the bench, and that cameo against Napoli in the Champions League. Many Kopites feel he has been underused by his manager, but now their calls for him to be given a fair shot in the first team will have been renewed by the latest training ground shot of him at Melwood. Shared by the Reds’ official Twitter account on Tuesday, it’s clear that Shaqiri is back in action, and fans are over the moon with the revelation. When he is on his game, the 28-year-old can be a real asset for the Reds. Last term he averaged 1.7 key passes per 90 minutes, as per Whoscored, and was involved in goals in the league, scoring six and assisting three more. If he can recapture that kind of form this time around, what a difference he could make in the second half of the season.
