Trent Alexander-Arnold took to his personal Twitter account on Monday to show that he had joined the Red Bull “family”, leading to a number of Liverpool fans saying that RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is now on his way to Anfield. It feels as though Werner, 23, has been linked with a move to Anfield for an eternity. Transfer expert Ian McGarry claimed on the Transfer Window Podcast last month that the Reds had been in negotiations over a deal to sign the prolific German centre-forward. Werner has scored 16 goals in 18 appearances across all competitions by Red Bull-owned Leipzig this season, so there is no surprise as to why so many Liverpool fans would love to see him join Jurgen Klopp’s squad. But there’s got to be zero link between Alexander-Arnold’s tweet about a deal he has with Red Bull and the opportunity to sign Werner. Liverpool fans should try to be happy with the squad they have now.
