Liverpool are set to scout Trabzonspor goalkeeper Urgurcan Cakir on Thursday, according to Milliyet.

The Turkish outlet claim that the Reds are set to watch the 23-year-old in the Europa League tie against Krasnodar, despite having signed both Adrian and Andy Lonergan in the summer.

Milliyet report that Liverpool are set to be joined by Real Madrid and Bayern Munich on their scouting trip to Russia, with Manchester United, also said to have been impressed from what they have seen from the keeper.

Cakir has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season and hasn’t managed to keep a single clean sheet – conceding 13 goals already.

OPINION

Liverpool look set to continue their scouting mission of Cakir, and their interest must be growing stronger as they rack up the number of trips going to track his progress. It seems strange that they would do just that though, especially given the number of keepers they already have at the club. Alisson Becker is the best stopper in the world at this moment, having won the Gold Glove award in three separate competitions last season. On top of that, they have Adrian, Andy Lonergan, and even Loris Karius on their books. The Carabao Cup victory over Arsenal also shone the spotlight on young keeper Caoimhin Kelleher as well, with the young Irishman clearly being rated highly after his penalty heroics. Either way, Liverpool don’t look set on Cakir just yet, and Thursday’s trip could make or break in regards to any move to the Reds.
