As any European qualifier for England is, their match against Montenegro on Thursday was another walk in the park. Liverpool duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Trent Alexander-Arnold were given the nod by Gareth Southgate and they combined beautifully on a number of occasions. Alexander-Arnold was most likely chosen to exploit the defensive weakness of the opposition, and he put in a number of great crosses throughout the games. Despite that, many fans took to Twitter to blast his performance, with some even questioning the decision to name him in the squad. That is definitely harsh, and the fact that Ben Chilwell assisted the first three goals in the game could have had something to do with why the criticism went his way in the game. Alexander-Arnold showed what he could do when he whipped in a wicked cross to set up Harry Kane’s hat-trick, potentially proving the majority of fans wrong with their verdict during the 7-0 win on Thursday.
