Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want to be Liverpool at the moment?

The Reds are the champions of Europe, they’ve got a commanding lead at the top of the Premier League, arguably the most fearsome front three in world football, and a centre-back who might legitimately be the best footballer on the planet right now.

Things are pretty rosey.

But sometimes you have to have to take a step back to look at the bigger picture, and ask yourself why things are like this.

And if you do that, the one constant factor that runs through everything that’s good about Liverpool right now is Jurgen Klopp’s management.

The German has transformed the Reds’ fortunes, and he’s done it all in a manner that has endeared him endlessly to the Kop faithful.

With his relentless grin and effortless charisma, he is perhaps the most popular boss in the modern game, and most players would be honoured to play under him.

And if you need any proof of just how heavily Klopp has influenced the English game since he arrived, look no further than Jamie O’Hara’s comments on Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Tottenham last night.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: “Since the Champions League final he’s been a completely different guy.

“He used to be like Klopp, fun and energetic in his interviews.

“When I’ve watched him recently he looked like he didn’t want to be there.”

Now that may just be a flippant, off-the-cuff remark about the Argentine, but the fact that the default now in the mainstream media is to compare other managers to Klopp’s personable and affable persona shows that the German has become the benchmark for his peers.

Whether it be in terms of results or style, everybody is trying to close the gap on Jurgen.
