Jamie O’Hara has admitted he would love to see Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back in the England squad this season.

O’Hara was particularly impressed with the goal he scored against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup, and that highlighted just how impressive he can be.

“He’s worth getting back in there,” he said on talkSPORT.

“He’s obviously a huge talent for England, we’re lucky to have such a talented player.

“The goal he scored against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup the other day just, for me, summed up what he can do.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain missed out on the last international selection in October for the victories over Bulgaria and Kosovo after returning from injury at the beginning of the season.

OPINION

As the 26-year-old continues to earn more game time at Liverpool, he just carries on getting better under Jurgen Klopp. Oxlade-Chamberlain gives his side more attacking impetus from midfield, and that is exactly what he would bring to the England squad at this minute. His ability to pull out the extraordinary from distance can be a real danger to opposing sides, and he just can’t stop scoring at this moment in time. The former Arsenal man is improving game by game in all competitions and would be fully deserving of a spot in the England side for the upcoming international games. The midfielder has highlighted his ability going forward in the Champions League, scoring three times in two games, averaging an impressive three shots on goal per game according to WhoScored, if he could do the same for his country, he could find the back of the net frequently. O’Hara is right to suggest he should be in the squad, and Southgate will surely have been impressed in the past couple of months.
