Liverpool duo Andrew Robertson and Mohamed Salah have been classed as major doubts for the trip to Crystal Palace, according to the Evening Standard.

The newspaper claim on their website that Jurgen Klopp is facing a nervous wait on the Reds’ pair who are still considered likely to miss the game at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

The Evening Standard reports that after returning to training from injury on Tuesday, Xherdan Shaqiri is likely to be in line for an immediate return to the first team.

Robertson and Salah missed the recent international break with their countries after both picking up similar ankle injuries in the past month.

OPINION

Well, this would be the first major selection problem that Klopp would have to face this season in the Premier League after previously being quite lucky. The international break did no favours to Liverpool, who could be without a number of key faces going into their busiest period of fixtures in the next month or so. Both would be massive misses at Selhurst Park, with Salah arguably Liverpool’s best player, and there being no senior replacements for Robertson. James Milner has filled in at full-back when the Scotsman hasn’t been available before and has come unstuck at certain times. Shaqiri’s return to full fitness couldn’t have come at a better time at Anfield, and should he get through a full week of training it would be no surprise to see the Swiss international get thrown straight back into the action. Klopp will be desperate to have both Salah and Robertson available to him, but he will know that using them when they aren’t fully fit could see them set back even further.
