Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian politely snubbed any past-match interviews after the Reds’ 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The newspaper claims that the Spaniard was ‘reluctant to chat’ as reporters waited for interviews after the game, instead he made a ‘polite decline’.

This came after his strange season took anther bizarre turn as he was called into action for Jurgen Klopp’s team after first choice ‘keeper Alisson was sent off at Anfield.

That means that the 32-year-old will now man the sticks for Wednesday’s Merseyside derby against Everton.

OPINION

It’s interesting that Adrian didn’t want to talk with the media after the game. You would have thought that the former West Ham United man would be ecstatic to be back in amongst it having fallen behind Allison in the pecking order once again. Perhaps, though, he simply wanted to focus on his game and look forward to what is a massive contest on Wednesday night. The Toffees always bring their A-game against their cross-city rivals and so Adrian will doubtless be a busy boy at Anfield. Another reason why he didn’t want to talk to reporters is perhaps that he wasn’t happy with his performance, particularly his role in Lewis Dunk’s consolation for the Seagulls. Adrian, like every other player in Liverpool red, wasn’t prepared for the England international to strike the ball when he did. The Reds’ shot-stopper was still attempting to set his wall up when the shot came in. So that will have been something he needed to look at after the game, as well.
