Adam Lallana will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, according to James Pearce.
The £110,000-a-week midfielder [Spotrac] has started just two Premier League games so far this season, and Pearce has made it very clear that he expects his stay at Anfield to come to an end sooner rather than later.
Writing in a Q&A for The Athletic, the reporter said: “Lallana will leave at the end of the season.”
OPINION
Would this really be a surprise in the grand scheme of things? Lallana is a fine player, of course, but the big question here is whether or not he is genuinely good enough to be playing for the best side in Europe on a regular basis. No disrespect to him, but the answer is perhaps not. When he has played this term, he has struggled, and his Whoscored rating of 6.33 is indicative of a talent who is struggling to find his rhythm. On top of that he has averaged just 0.4 shots, 0.4 key passes, and 0.1 successful dribbles per game, and that simply is not good enough. The 31-year-old may have been one of Klopp’s go-to men once upon a time, but the Reds seem to be growing at an almost exponential rate, and the sad reality is that he has not been able to keep up. The time is right for him to move on, both for his sake and that of the club’s.
