Inter Milan forward Gabriel Barbosa has revealed his ambition to play for Liverpool at some point in his career.

The Brazilian, currently on loan at Flamengo, was full of praise for Roberto Firmino – sharing his dream to partner the Reds’ talisman, someone who has enjoyed great success across Europe for many years.

Barbosa claimed that Liverpool are a club that every player would want to play for in their careers and that it would be a pleasure to run out with Firmino at Anfield.

“Firmino is great, I really admire him,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“He’s been successful for many years in Europe. He is a powerful forward and he has been great for Brazil. He is an inspiration that I look up to.

“It would be a pleasure to play with him. Maybe we could team up for Brazil in the future and Liverpool is a team that everyone wants to play for.”

The 23-year-old has been involved in 45 goals in 40 appearances this season, finding the back of the net 34 times for Flamengo.

OPINION

Given Divock Origi’s recent form in big games, it appears that Liverpool have the answer to the questions regarding whether or not they have enough depth to cope with injuries to any of their prolific front three. Firmino will most likely know Barbosa and will be able to justify any potential move he could make to Anfield in the future. It would make total sense to bring the 23-year-old to the Premier League, especially given his recent form. The South American has been in sensational form in front of goal, and wouldn’t cost much given his struggles at his parent club Inter Milan. The Italian club are hoping for an auction rather than just £18.5million [FCInterNews] – which would be an absolute bargain should the Reds ever decide to make Barbosa’s dream come true in the near future. It is unlikely that Liverpool will make a move for the prolific forward any time soon, with Klopp surely happy with the options he has at Anfield.
