When Fabinho hit the floor against Napoli, every Liverpool fan must have been fearing the worst at Anfield.

The Reds went on to confirmed on their website that the Brazilian would be out until at least January with ankle ligament damage – leaving Jurgen Klopp with a big gap to fill at the base of midfield.

Apart from Jordan Henderson, Liverpool don’t have too many options to plug the considerable space left by the South American. Marko Grujic is currently out on loan at Hertha Berlin and would offer much more of a physical presence than anyone currently at the club.

Grujic has recently admitted that he would love to get an opportunity to start regularly for Liverpool in the Premier League next season after a couple of seasons in the Bundesliga on loan.

“My dream is to get the chance in Liverpool next season,” he told Berliner Kurier.

The Serbian international went on to say that if that isn’t possible, then he is open to leaving Anfield to potentially seal a permanent switch to Hertha Berlin.

“If not, I would be very happy to come back and be part of this project. I’m a Hertha fan. Everything looks very professional and ambitious. The conditions are wonderful. Berlin deserves international football.”

The 6ft 3in enforcer [Transfermarkt] definitely has a massive chance of featuring for the Reds, and Klopp should look at Fabinho’s current absence of an example of where he could be used should he still have questions over the midfielder.

Grujic has impressed this season, making 1.3 tackles per game as well as having 1.7 shots on goal according to WhoScored – proving that the Serbian can be the perfect pivot in midfield who is capable at each end of the pitch.

Klopp should hand the chance to Grujic next season after he has definitely proved himself in the past couple of seasons, with no question marks surrounding his desire after revealing his dream to feature for the Reds.
