A number of Liverpool fans have shown their appreciation for Troy Deeney after the Watford striker lauded Jurgen Klopp’s side following the match between the two teams at the weekend.

The 31-year-old, who rounded off the scoring in his team’s 3-0 win with his sixth goal of the season, was highly complimentary of the Hornets’ vanquished opponents after the game as they ended Liverpool’s hopes of completing an unbeaten Premier League campaign. As noted by @AnfieldWatch on Twitter, he told The Mirror: “They are still an unbelievable side – world club champions, European champions, soon to be Premier League champions. Invincibles or not, it doesn’t mean that they’re not an unbelievable side. You tip your hat to them.”

Deeney’s high praise of the Reds was in stark contrast to comments he made about Arsenal after he helped Watford to beat the Gunners in 2017, when he said that the north London side did not have the “cojones” for a fight [BT Sport via The Independent]. Ironically, his team ended Liverpool’s chances of emulating Arsenal’s unbeaten league campaign of 2003/04 and also preserved the Gunners’ record for the longest undefeated streak in Premier League history (as per This Is Anfield).

The Watford striker’s comments went down well with a lot of Liverpool fans on Twitter, with one supporter even claiming that they would like to see him being signed by the Anfield club:

Liverpool fans, what did you make of Deeney’s views on the Reds? Do you think Klopp should consider signing him? Tell us what you think in the comments section below!
