Many Liverpool fans have shown their backing for Mohamed Salah after Robbie Savage claimed that the Egyptian should be dropped or sold by Jurgen Klopp.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, the former Wales international said that the Reds should sign Jadon Sancho in the summer and that he should be played in Liverpool’s first choice XI instead of Salah. The Premier League leaders have been linked with a potential £100m summer move for the Borussia Dortmund winger, according to the Daily Mail.

Salah’s equaliser for the Reds in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth was his 20th goal of the season, the most of anyone in Klopp’s squad, and took him to 70 in 100 Premier League games for the Merseyside club. It also ensured that he hit the 20-goal mark for the third season in a row, the first Liverpool player to do so since Michael Owen in 2003 (as per Opta). His return of 20 goals in 39 matches in the current campaign (0.51 per game) is marginally better than Sancho’s tally of 17 goals in 34 games (0.5 per game).

The Egyptian had come under fire from some Liverpool fans over his performances against Wolves, Norwich and Atletico Madrid in recent weeks. However, Reds supporter Graeme Kelly on Twitter (@GraemeKelly1) felt that the 27-year-old “doesn’t get the respect he deserves”, with many Kopites agreeing with his pro-Salah stance:

Do you think Salah has had a good season so far for Liverpool? Would you have Sancho ahead of him in the team if the England winger arrives in the summer? Comment below with your views!
