Some Liverpool fans have gleefully welcomed a transfer report from Spanish media outlet Sport claiming that the Reds are interest in Rennes’ teenage defensive midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. According to Sport, the Premier League leaders could face competition from Barcelona and Real Madrid for his signature.

Despite only turning 17 last November, the youngster has already made 36 first team appearances this season and 43 in total for his club, starting 24 Ligue 1 matches in the current campaign as well as featuring in four Europa League group games. It is just under a year since he made his senior debut for Rennes against Angers and he already has a French Cup winner’s medal to his name from last season.

As per Bleacher Report, he further enhanced his reputation with a sumptuous pass for Romain Del Castillo’s winning goal against Paris Saint-Germain last August and he already has a sponsorship deal with Nike. He has recorded an exceptional average of 4.3 successful tackles per game this season – Jordan Henderson, Liverpool’s marker leader for this metric, has averaged 2.2 per game.

These Reds fans on Twitter were drooling at the club’s transfer links with Camavinga, with one feeling confident that sporting director Michael Edwards can swing a deal for him and another hailing him as a “beast”:

Do you think Camavinga would be an astute addition for Liverpool? How likely is it that he could join the Reds this summer? Share your views in the comments section below!
