Plenty of Liverpool fans wistfully recalled the Anfield career of ex-Reds striker Daniel Sturridge after seeing a compilation featuring all of his 51 Premier League goals for the club posted by @TheAnfieldWrap on Twitter.

The 26-cap England international came to Liverpool in January 2013 and spent six years on Merseyside, scoring 68 times in 160 appearances in all competitions for the Reds and leaving with a Champions League winner’s medal upon his release from the club last summer.

Sturridge enjoyed an excellent start to his Liverpool career, with 10 in 14 Premier League games in his first half-season at Anfield followed by 25 in total during the 2013/14 campaign as the Reds fell just short of winning the Premier League. However, he wouldn’t manage to hit double figures for a league season thereafter, with a succession of injuries curtailing his involvement.

Among his Liverpool highlights were a hat-trick at Fulham in 2013, delightful chipped finishes in emphatic wins over West Brom and Everton, a brilliant solo effort in a 5-3 win at Stoke, a goal in the 2016 Europa League final and a stunning late equaliser against former club Chelsea last season.

These Reds fans on Twitter were raving about Sturridge after seeing the compilation of his goals for the club, with one Kopite saying that the 30-year-old “had everything when he was at his best“:

Liverpool fans, just how good was Sturridge in his time at Anfield and would you like to have him back at the club now? Comment below with your views!
